NATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS AWARD
The quest for political socialization and civilization is one of the core areas of untiring efforts of human rights organizations. Over the years, our organization has been researching into positive contributions of notable people within and outside Nigeria, and thus compiled a scorecard that necessitates the institution of National Human Rights Awards. The award is being organized by Centre for Human Rights Education & Reporting in collaboration with Movement for Genuine Democracy in Nigeria, Children Rights network, AVENIR NEPAD International, Amnesty International Nigeria Group 50, local and international organizations in and outside Nigeria. The award is first of its kind, as it is designed to showcase, encourage and honour the awardees as appreciation of their services to humanity.
The award is also intended to further package recipients to achieving greater goals in their landmark achievements in the areas of civil, cultural, social, economic and political responsibilities. The award will also draw a positive international attention on the awardees and support their works in future careers.
Considering the nature of the Nigerian government being a newly democratized country, the organization considers the institution of the award to be a worthwhile project to encourage the defenders of human rights and democracy respectively. Also, as contribution of these organizations to commemorate International Women Day, thus instituting the award program.
These organizations have done a lot in terms of strategy, planning and organization. Meanwhile, some more organizations are being considered for collaboration.
PURPOSES OF THE AWARD.
The purpose of the award among others is to shine a positive national and international light on the awardees and to support their works in the areas of civil, economic, political, cultural and social responsibilities.
