ABOUT THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR / FOUNDER AND MEMBERS AND PROGRAMME COORDINATORS

The Founder as well as Executive Director of Centre for Human Rights Education & Reporting is Peter Ajayi. He is a Journalist, Educationist and Advocate of human rights. He is in his early 30s. He was born in Ora, Ekiti State, Nigeria. He speaks French, English and Yoruba. He is a Christian. He is fifth of seven children in the family. His hubbies include: traveling, meeting with people, writing and discussing human rights issues. He detests pretence, lying and fake life, He likes being oneself, straight forwardness, and hard working people. He is married. He is a member and Coordinator of Amnesty International Nigeria Group 50, one of the most active groups of Amnesty International in Nigeria. He is founding member and member of Board of Trustees of Children Rights Network; He is founding member of Movement for Genuine Democracy in Nigeria. He is Director of Programs and Executive member of AVENIR NEPAD INTERNATIONAL in Nigeria. He worked with Amnesty International Nigeria as Staff member for some years. He resigned his appointment in December 2001 to set up another human rights organization. One of his reasons for quitting Amnesty International’s job is that the mandate upon which its membership operates does not allow members to take up human rights violation cases in their home country, which does not make the presence of such organization in any country meaningful to the people. Centre for Human Rights Education & Reporting was founded in 2002 to take care of violations of human rights cases all over the world most especially at grass root levels. It is committed to actions for the civil, economic, political, social and cultural rights of the citizenry. Mr. Peter Ajayi has been exposed to the work of humanity since his years at Amnesty International. He has participated and attended national and international human rights trainings, workshops, seminars and conferences. Mr. Peter Ajayi has received certificates of recognition and appreciation from different sectors and organizations including Amnesty International USA, Amnesty International UK, Movement for Genuine Democracy in Nigeria, CRINET, Amnesty International Nigeria Group 50 and such. He has received so many other certificates for participating in national and international programs such as The Lobbying Skills Training Workshop on ECOWAS organized by Amnesty International Nigeria and Netherlands, Training of Trainers Workshop in Human Rights Reporting, Training of Trainers Workshop in Human Rights Education, Workshop on Introduction of Human Rights in the School Curriculum, Workshop on Civil Society Watchdogs, Training Courses in the following areas, Group organization / administration, strategies for membership recruitment and retention, campaigns, fundraising, human rights education and reporting, strategic thinking in Amnesty International, Special Program on Africa, formation of Non Governmental Organizations, etc.
